For some members, modeling prototypical railroad operations is a significant part of a satisfying model railroading experience.  "Operating Sessions" are special meetings during which the St. Alban's Railroad is operated in a way that simulates the job of a real railroad in providing transportation of goods and people under rules and instructions designed to do so safely and expeditiously. Those electing to participate in the operating sessions, in effect become "employees" of a railroad and as such agree to be governed by the rules, instructions, and procedures of the railroad.
